FAQs

What is a good place to eat and drink in Tubingen?

Tubingen is a student city, so getting dinner is one of the easiest things to do. As soon as you make it to the old town, just about everything is in walking distance. Popular coffee shops are Cafe Bota, Suedhang, Cafe Hanseatica, or for especially student friendly prices Willis and Collegium. For slightly upscale Swabian dinners, check out Krumme Brucke, Mauganeschtle, Ratskeller, Wurstkuche, Ludwig’s. While walking through the old town you will find plenty of little shops to get takeaway, too.

Getting a drink in the evening is possible just about anywhere: Ludwig’s, Saints & Scholars, Collegium, Stadtpost, Schmitz Katze, Liquid Kelter.

And how do I get home later at night?

Tubingen has a few night buses that run until 3 am. They are marked with an “N”.

Alternatively, there are a few taxi companies:

  • Taxi Tubingen: +49 7071 920555 / +49 157 80989740
  • Taxi Akublut: +49 7071 1438591
  • Taxi Maxi Tubingen: +49 7071 7931064
  • Taxi Easy: +49 173 1643229

And if I need money?

Contactless payment is available almost everywhere, but some places still rely on cash. You can find ATMs on Google Maps or check out places like Sparkasse, Deutsche Bank, Volksbank — they always have ATMs.

What do I do in an emergency or after hours?

The most important number to know for accidents or emergencies is the rescue coordination center 112 (no area code needed). They can dispatch an ambulance, send a fire team, etc.

If you need to see a doctor after-hours but it is not a life-threatening situation, the hotline +49 116 117 can tell you where to go to see the on-call doctor.

In case you need to go to the hospital, you can find contact and directions to the emergency rooms at the University Hospital.
